Alyssa first met Patrick one night at Michigan State when he was visiting his cousin, Melissa, who was also one of Alyssa’s best friends from her sorority. Alyssa thought they were dating and Melissa laughed as she explained that he was actually her cousin! From that point on, it was Melissa’s mission to bring Patrick and Alyssa together! Whenever she would see Patrick, she would casually ask and try to hint around to see if he was dating anyone and would bring up Alyssa. Her plan eventually worked and she got to stand by her best friend’s side this past Saturday as one of her maid’s of honor as she went from friend to family!
The morning started at the Country Club of Detroit where Alyssa got her beautiful wedding dress from The Gown Shop on in the quaintest guest room (complete with a gold key to access it) that she and Patrick would stay in that night. Patrick got into his black tuxedo from The Tux Shop on Woodward in the library upstairs, which made such a great backdrop for photographs. Once everyone was dressed, it was down the spiral staircase (the photo I snapped of Patrick walking down it unaware I was capturing him is one of my favorite photos of the day) and to the church to get married. Alyssa’s dad walked her down the aisle to where Patrick was waiting and after marriage blessings and communion, these two were pronounced husband and wife! The Country Club of Detroit was once again the scene for the reception and their front courtyard made for the most beautiful backdrop for portraits before the party got started inside where Nick Kuhl and the Gang kept the dance floor packed all night long!
One of my favorite moments on Alyssa & Patrick‘s wedding day was her dad’s toast. He had everyone hysterically laughing as he told the story about the time he followed her and Patrick out on a date and spied on them! Once the laughter died down, he had everyone tearing up when he said seeing them in their own little bubble oblivious to the world around them on that date is how he knew they were meant to be.
Alyssa & Patrick, thank you for trusting me to capture your love for each other on this special day. Your wedding day was such a beautiful one and I hope you love and cherish these photographs for decades to come. Wishing you both a lifetime of love & happiness! Much love, Jen. xx
