An Elegant and Modern Outdoor Barn Wedding Northwest of Detroit | Katie & Nate

Katie & Nate met in high school. Katie had her eye on Nate, and from the moment she got his number and they started talking, she was smitten! From high school, college at Central Michigan and moving to Arizona, the one thing that remained constant was each other! Their first date was a trip to the movies to see The Hangover, which they gave a special tribute to at their wedding by naming all of their tables after significant things in their relationship, like their first date movie choice, the places they’ve visited and lived together and activities they had been a part of together!

These two high school sweethearts were married this past Saturday at the most elegant, chic and modern Vale Royal Barn wedding this past Saturday in Fenton, Michigan. The day started off with hair and make-up and a calm, cool and collected Katie who was just so excited to marry Nate! After a cute first look with her dad, Katie walked down along the water to see her groom for the first time. Nate was standing alongside a gorgeous weeping willow tree waiting for his first look with his bride! I think one of my favorite pictures from the entire day is a teary eyed Katie hugging Nate after she saw him for the first time! The emotion and love written all over her face is just beautiful! During the ceremony, Katie and Nate stood under a gorgeous arbor covered in sprawling florals in the middle of a huge green pasture surrounded by their closest family and friends and promised forever to one another! Cocktail hour took place in the cutest white picket fenced courtyard and the party got started in the white barn that was more modern chic than rustic barn! From the long, wooden farmhouse tables draped with greenery and florals running through the center of them, to the candelabras and geometric gold flower vases and Tuscan style cross-back chairs, Katie’s vision came to life in a stunning way! Her cake was from one of my personal favorite wedding cake designers, Love & Buttercream and it was an elegant, white, three-tiered cake with floral accents! There was even a stunning chandelier and twinkle lights hung overhead! Throughout their wedding day, it was evident not only how much these two love each other, but how much fun they have together! Nate knows how to make Katie laugh and I don’t think her smile left her face the whole day! And I couldn’t talk about their wedding day without talking about the wonderful sense of family that filled the day! From the little touches, like the hankie that was given to Nate as a baby for his wife to carry on their wedding day one day and Katie’s grandma’s pearls wrapped tightly around her bouquet on her walk down the aisle, to the bigger moments, like the way Katie’s dad picked her up during their first dance and spun her around the dance floor, you could tell just how special and close knit their family was. At the end of the night, Katie & Nate sent me home with the sweetest thank you card and tucked into their envelope alongside their note was a thank you card from Katie’s parents as well!

Katie and Nate, thank you so much for treating me like one of your own during your wedding day and not like just another vendor. I feel so honored to have been able to tell your story and walk alongside of you on day one of your marriage. I know you will cherish these photos for many generations to come in your family.
