Owen calls Nicolle his angel. In the note he had delivered to her the morning of the wedding, he expressed his deep love and admiration for the incredible women he now gets to call his wife in the sweetest of words that had Nicolle’s mom & her bridesmaids wiping away their eyes as she read it aloud after getting into her dress. Later on at the ceremony as he was reciting the lines of his handwritten vows, he reiterated this again and once again had everyone tearing up in the church pews. Nicolle & Owen are a perfect fit for one another and it was so evident in every aspect of their wedding day.
Nicolle & Owen were married this past Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Howell, Michigan, a stunning Church with beautiful floor to ceiling stained glass widows that filled whole walls and white stone walls. It looked like a church straight out of Europe and the stunning archway above the front steps leading into the church made such a beautiful backdrop for portraits! Although rain was in the forecast, not a single drop fell on Owen & Nicolle’s wedding day. And despite it being late February in Michigan, the temperature was in the high 30’s and we were able to take all of their portraits outside! Nicolle’s bridesmaids were the sweetest girls and I had so much fun hanging out with them a few weeks ago photographing Nicolle’s Bridal Shower and again at the wedding! They were all such champs too taking pictures outside & not complaining at all! When the bridal party is up for anything and has a positive attitude, it makes portraits go by so quickly and makes them so much fun! We finished portraits early and then headed over to The Inn at St. John’s for the reception in the Grande Ballroom! Nicolle has such great taste & the ballroom looked stunning with florals everywhere and light pink and gold accents!
One of my favorite moments of the night was Nicolle & her dad during their first dance! They picked an upbeat song & were twirling and spinning all over the floor and having so much fun during their special dance. The Inn at St. John’s was hopping as soon as The Newsmakers started playing & the dance floor opened up!
Another one of my favorite moments was Nicolle’s sweet 87 year old grandma holding her hands as Nicolle’s mom buttoned up the back of her dress during the getting ready portion of the day! I love capturing moments like this because I know how special the bond between grandmas and granddaughters are and I know the photographs of these moments will be cherished down the road. As I was chatting with Nicolle’s grandma later on in the day before the ceremony started, she told me she has been married for 68 years. She even made it out on the dance floor to slow dance with her husband in his wheelchair and give him a kiss. They were so sweet together and such an incredible example of love and marriage for her granddaughter on her wedding day.
Nicolle & Owen, thank you so much for trusting me to capture the start of your lives together as husband and wife.
