Elevated Detroit Institute of Arts Winter Engagement Photos | Renee & Michael

So excited to share more beautiful Detroit engagement photos on the blog tonight!! I met up with Renee and Michael two weeks ago to capture their Detroit Institute of Arts engagement photos on the museum’s beautiful marble steps! Renee dressed for the season with the most festive red pleated dress tied with a perfect black velvet bow and the coziest shawl on top to keep her toasty warm! I absolutely loved the pleats in her dress and it looked so great with some movement in it in the photos!

These two are so much fun together and I had a blast with them capturing their engagement photos despite the freezing cold temps that afternoon! They were absolutely champs & didn’t let the cold stop them from loving on each other!! We headed up to a rooftop in Detroit as the sun was setting so they could pop a bottle of champagne and toast to their engagement! Renee‘s reaction when Michael popped it was one of my favorite memories from the session! These two are so awesome and I’m so, so excited to celebrate with them again next September at their Detroit Athletic Club wedding! Cannot wait!!

Sophisticated Shinola Hotel Winter Engagement Photos | Stephanie & Chris

I don’t even know where to start with Stephanie & Chris’ Shinola Hotel wedding engagement photos!!! So much elevated, sophisticated, editorial goodness!!! Stephanie has such great style & when she emailed me a photo of the dress she was considering for her & Chris’s engagement session & asked if I thought if it was too much, I told her she should definitely go for it – it was too good & perfect for the session!!! She bought the dress, a stunning black satin asymmetrical ballgown with so many fluffy layers (just wait til you see the photos of her twirling in it) and it was even better in person!! Her & Chris were super into the editorial look & she showed me a photo of Chuck & Blair from Gossip Girl (Where are all of my GG fans at – I totally want to rewatch the series again over the holidays now) that was her inspiration & I think we nailed that elevated, iconic New Yorker couple vibes at one of my favorite sophisticated spots in Detroit, the Shinola Hotel!!

Stephanie & Chris are so great and I had so much fun with them at their session! They are so sweet with each other & were total champs in the freezing cold Michigan weather!! Their love is evident in these photos and they brought all of the romantic vibes!! These two are getting married in May and I’m so excited to hang out again & have them back in front of my camera on their wedding day!!

Belle Isle James Scott Memorial Fountain Engagement Photos | Jackie & Dwight

A few weeks ago I met up with Jackie and Dwight at the Belle Isle Casino for their Detroit engagement photos!! It was a chilly day out & the wind was crazy, but these two didn’t let that phase them at all!! I just loved watching these to interact with each other during the session! You could tell how in love they were & how sweet they were with each other and it came across beautifully in their photos!!

And can we talk about the fashion?! For the first look, Jackie wore a stunning patterned long dress in the perfect winter colors and I just love the way it moved into in the wind! Dwight was rocking the chicest hunter green corduroy suit with a plum turtleneck. I’ve had a few guys now wear green jackets for their engagement photos & they just always look so sharp!! For the second half of their session, we headed over to the Belle Isle fountain which is one of my favorite spots in the city! You just can’t beat that beautiful white marble of the fountain! It’s such a stunning backdrop! Jackie wore a stunning black velvet long sleeve turtleneck dress dotted with sequins! It looks so chic in front of the fountain and was just perfect for this time of year! I’m so excited to hang out with these two again and I cannot wait for their Grosse Pointe War Memorial wedding this coming July!

Stylish City Engagement Photos in Detroit | Sarah & Brian

Sarah & Brian’s engagement session was SO good!!! We started downtown at one of my favorite geometric structures that was just the perfect backdrop for Sarah’s beautiful, flowy cranberry hued gown. The slit in the dress was perfect for getting some movement in it & added a bit fo drama & magic to their photos!! I swear you can’t go wrong with a floor length dress for engagement photos!!

Sarah & Brian are the cutest couple & were so sweet and loving with each other! They have a beautiful relationship & it was fun to see that come out while we were taking photos! I enjoyed spending a late afternoon with them & there were so many laughs during their session!! We wandered around the streets of Detroit for a bit & then finished up on the beautiful steps of the Detroit Institute of Arts! These two are getting married in June of 2022 and I cannot wait to celebrate their big day with them!!

University of Michigan Ann Arbor Engagement Photos | Leanne & Connor

So excited to share Leanne & Connor’s engagement photos on the blog today!! Leanne & I first met a few years ago when we both coached a Girls on the Run team together in Ann Arbor!! I remember her telling me at dinner one night that year that she wanted me to photograph her wedding one day and a few years later when Connor proposed, I was so honored when she officially asked me to photograph her big day!! These two are getting married next September and I’m so excited to capture their Adler Planetarium wedding in Chicago! We met up on a cold & windy day in Ann Arbor and Leanne wore the cutest Burberry pea coat & Connor had on a matching one as well! They looked so chic & cozy on the steps of Angell Hall! We ventured into the Law Quad to capture their second outfit just as the street lamps came on & it gave off the prettiest winter glow for their engagement photos! These two are such a sweet couple & I’m so happy I was able to document this exciting time in their lives!! The countdown to their wedding day is on!!

Lake Tahoe Inspired Fall Engagement Photos | Kathryn & Blaise

We had the most perfect fall afternoon for Kathryn & Blaise’s engagement session last month! The sun was peeking in & out of the clouds and made the trees glow at her parents’ beautiful property on the water! The photos we captured on their back patio with the evergreens & the lake in the back reminded me so much of being at a lodge on Lake Tahoe! Kathryn wore a beautiful green Reformation dress with the cutest bows on her shoulder where the dress tied together! A gorgeous array of fall hues adorned the leaves around the property & some of my favorite photos are the ones of them with the leaves flying all around them!! We may have had a little help to get them in the air! ;) These two are the absolute sweetest and I’m so excited to hang out with them again next year & photograph their September wedding that Sarah Rhodes Boyce Weddings is planning! It’s going to be a great day!
