During the wedding down season, one of my favorite things to photograph (because let’s be honest, I’ll go crazy not using my camera for months waiting for wedding season to kick up again) is newborn and family lifestyle sessions! If you aren’t familiar with lifestyle sessions, they are sessions done in your own home and involve capturing life with your family! Everything from reading books with your kids, cooking breakfast, doing crafts, coloring or just having fun and documenting a day in the life as a family! I haven’t been sharing a ton of these sessions on the blog, but my goal is to share a lot more of them that I’ve done recently since it is a slower time of year for weddings! I was so excited when Danielle reach out to me to photograph a session at their home with her and her husband, Chris, and their brand new baby boy Ivan! I went to grade school with Danielle and Chris and grew up around the corner from Danielle! We danced and cheered together and would run into each other all the time on the buses when we were both at Michigan! It was so nice to catch up with her and document these special newborn moments for her family! Danielle and Chris, I hope you love the photos of your new family of 3! xx, Jen

Oh my gosh you guys, get prepared for cuteness overload! For this Detroit newborn photographer, I sure have come to love lifestyle sessions in a family’s home, and even more so when the lifestyle session revolves around a brand new baby! I photographed Lisa and Zack’s newborn, Cal, a few weeks ago when he was just a few days old and he was just the cutest thing ever! My favorite thing about Detroit lifestyle newborn sessions, verse the traditional posed newborn photos, is that you get to see the baby’s emerging personality and emotions! Plus, you get to document the interaction between them and their parents in those precious few first days of life! Their cute little dog didn’t want to be left out and even hopped in some of the photos! Thank you Lisa and Zack for trusting me to capture your little babe!
