Pro tip for when you have a specific idea for a photo and need someone else to take it: take a photo of the other person first doing what you want to do in your photo. Then show them on the back of your camera what the finished product looks like so they have a picture in their head of what the photo needs to look like when they take it! Plus the settings are all dialed in correctly then for them too! That’s my little secret for you!

One.
Delicate Arch | Arches National Park | Moab, UT
Arches was incredible! I think this was the hardest hike that we did all trip (except maybe Devil’s Bridge in the rain). It was a mile and a half straight uphill hike to get to this glorious point, but when you turn the corner and see Delicate Arch glistening in the sun, it’s ALL worth it! Also, GO BLUE! ;)

Two.
Zion National Park | Springdale, UT
Zion was my favorite National Park overall! The scenery was just stunning everywhere you looked. We did four hikes here, but I wish we could have spent a few days here doing more. I really want to come back and do Angel’s Landing. That’s on my list for next time!

Three.
Bryce Canyon National Park | Bryce, UT

Bryce Canyon, like every other National Park, had STUNNING scenery! It was so cool going in winter and getting to experience Bryce with snow covering the hoodoos and trails. This switchback below was on the Navajo Loop Trail and we connected it to the Queen’s Garden to extend our hike. It was one of the most serene and peaceful hikes I’ve ever been on, not to mention, we had just about the whole trail to ourselves!

Mesa Arch | Canyonlands |Moab, UT
The 5 AM wakeup call to hike to Mesa Arch for sunrise was so worth it! I photographed the sun rising up through the arch (it’s the header photo above the blog post title ^)  and it was incredible to see! After a few minutes of the sun rising, we climbed up onto the top of the arch to watch it get higher into the sky.

Five.
The Grand Canyon South Rim | Grand Canyon National Park | Arizona
Pictures just do not do the vastness of the Grand Canyon justice. I couldn’t believe how big, how wide and how deep the canyon was! It was just stunning and the 6 miles we hiked here in the snow was one of my favorite days of the trip! This is also another park I can’t wait to come back to and I want to hike down to the Colorado River next time! #hikinggoals

Body Like A Back Road by Sam Hunt
Oh Sam Hunt, you can do no wrong! He is hands down my favorite country singer and just so damn good! I photographed him in Grands Rapids right before he blew up when he played The Intersection and saw him last Summer in Ft. Lauderdale at Tortuga Music Festival. This song has no joke been on repeat for days straight! The beat is just so catchy!

Two.
I Got You by Bebe Rexha
I saw Bebe open up for Ellie Goulding at Eastern Michigan University last May and she was so good! Her set was one big dance party and she has been killing it on the radio ever since! I’m kinda obsessed with her latest single!

Three.
Don’t Kill My Vibe by Sigrid
I literally found this song on Spotify this AM and then proceeded to listen to it like 10 times in a row while answering emails. I love her voice and the chorus is legit! I have a pattern when it comes to a song I really like – listen to it until I’m sick of it! :) Sometimes that never happens!

Four.
Let Me Let You by Aaron Carter
Okay, first of all don’t judge. I heard this song and loved it and then found out it was an Aaron Carter song. It totally has a Justin Bieber vibe to it. It sounds NOTHING like him, and I would know because I used to be all about Aaron’s Party back in the day! Side note: I once convinced his publicist that I was a freelance journalist via email and was granted a press pass and an interview with him backstage at one of his shows when he was at the height of his fame. The look on the publicist’s face when he realized that I was a 16 year old girl when he met me to escort me backstage was priceless. But I got my interview! Never underestimate a teen who wants to meet her favorite singer. ;)

More Girls Like You by Kip Moore
Kip just dropped this song today and it is so good! I love the raspiness in his voice. I photographed him in December and he puts on such a great live show too!

Butterflies by Kasey Musgraves
This song has literally been on repeat for days. I heard Kasey sing it live last Friday at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival and I loved the vibe of it. It’s so different from her normal stuff! Go listen!!!

Two.
West Elm
I always love West Elm, but I had bought a ton of light fixtures from there for my home reno and seeing them go up this week and actually hanging in my place totally validated all of the $$ I spent on lights (even after waiting for a lighting sale)! They are statement pieces and I’m OBSESSED! But I’m currently on a self-imposed West Elm shopping ban! :)

Three.
Ginger Shots from Drought
I tried Drought’s ginger shots for the first time this week and they were so good and spicy! I’m a fan of ginger and always add a huge chunk of ginger to my green juice but I had never done a shot of just ginger juice before. It definitely wakes you up!

Four.
Sunshine
We had two days in a row of blue skies and sunshine this week and it was much needed. It’s hard to endure winter in Michigan when it’s gray outside every. single. day. so that was a nice break! That is probably the one thing I miss most about living in California.

Five.
Tea
I had five wedding consults this week with potential 2017 & 2018 brides and grooms (hi guys!!!) and wasn’t feeling my normal Starbucks tea order (grande mint majesty tea made with all steamed soy in case you were wondering ;)) by meeting number 3. The barista suggested I mix their passion and peach tea bags for something different and it was so delicious!

#girlbosses
I photographed two fellow girl bosses who are killing it this week and I can’t wait to blog about them soon! Melissa is a fellow photographer and we went on a photo/coffee shop adventure around Chicago when I was in town and did some new lifestyle shots for each other. Caitlin is an estetician and runs her own eyelash extension and organic (yay for no chemicals!) skincare studio, Lovely Lash, in Downtown Rochester. She is working on a new project and needed some new headshots/working shot of her taken! I love working with ladies who are just killing it in their careers and I can’t wait to try one of her organic facials!

Two.
The Chicago food scene
I’m vegetarian and gluten free, but still a total foodie! One of the best parts of going on vacation to bigger cities are all of the wonderful food options. True Food Kitchen and Native Foods Cafe were two of my very favorite places to eat at when I lived in Orange County and I was so happy that they have Chicago locations. If you have never been to True Food you HAVE TO GO! The food on their menu is such a culinary experience and lick the plate good. I didn’t, but I wanted to… ;)

Three.
The Museum of Science and Industry
I’m a total museum geek! Give me a few hours and a cool museum and I’m in heaven! When I was in Chicago I headed over to their science museum for the afternoon by myself and it was a blast. They had a ton of cool exhibits, but my favorite was the extreme weather one. It was cool learning the how and why behind tornados, earthquakes, avalanches and tsunami’s. They had hands on simulators showing everything too and it was pretty fun. I also watched an IMAX film about the National Parks that was amazing.

Sara Haze’s version of Riot
If you are a Rascal Flatts fan, you have to listen to Sara’s stripped down piano version! It’s on Spotify and so good!

Five.
Suits
Suits came back on USA this past week and it is one of my favorite shows! It’s about big law partners in NYC and it’s SO GOOD. I think I used that phrase to describe everything on my list this week, but it is! Harvey Specter is my second favorite TV character ever (right behind Lorelai Gilmore).

Act Like You Don’t by Brooke Eden
I’ve been listening to this song on repeat while working this week. I photographed Brooke in concert back in December (I need to blog the photos!!) and she played this song on her keyboard. She was so raw, real, and emotional in her performance and it was one of those songs that as soon as I heard it, I knew I wanted to hear it again and again.

Two.
eos lip balm tubes
I’ve been obsessed with eos lip balm since it first came out (organic skincare junkie over here) and I recently bought the tube version in pomegranate raspberry. It’s so much easier to hold and you can actually put it in your pocket since it’s not a giant sphere! LOVE!

Three.
Spindrift Sparkling Water in Lemon
Do me a favor… if you drink LaCroix, buy this instead! It’s made with actual lemon juice instead of “natural flavors” (whatever that means) and only contains two ingredients: sparkling water and lemon juice! Whenever I want something with bubbles, this or kombucha are my go to.

Four.
The Bachelor
I’m always into this show, but I figured it had to make my inaugural post this week. Although, I’m not sure if it’s the Nick or Corinne show this season! ;)

Five.
Giving back
I just made it past the selection process to volunteer with a really great organization over the next few months and I can’t wait to start! I finally have a little bit of extra time on my hands now since it’s the off season and I wanted to use some of it to give back!
